A modern and user-friendly web platform designed to simplify and streamline the accommodation booking experience for NDIS participants and their coordinators. The design emphasizes accessibility, clarity, and ease of use across all user types.
Context
Respitely is a digital platform focused on helping NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) participants and their sub-coordinators book suitable accommodations. The platform needed an intuitive and accessible UI that could cater to a wide range of users—particularly individuals with disabilities, as well as their support staff. The project aimed to enhance the online booking process and build trust through clean design, structured content, and simplified workflows.

Challenge
- Designing a system that works equally well for both end-users (NDIS clients) and intermediaries (sub-coordinators).
- Balancing simplicity with functionality for potentially vulnerable users.
- Creating a booking flow that minimizes cognitive load while still allowing custom inputs (e.g., check-in/out dates, guest needs).
- Making the interface fully accessible (color contrast, readable fonts, keyboard navigation).
- Presenting complex information (like available facilities, funding eligibility, support services) in a simple way.
Solution
User Role-Based Flows: Separate flows for NDIS clients and sub-coordinators, with dashboards tailored to their specific needs.
Simplified Booking Interface: Step-by-step process to make booking less overwhelming.
Visual Hierarchy & Accessibility: Clean layout, consistent iconography, readable fonts, and accessible color palette.
Filters & Tags: Easily filter accommodations based on needs (e.g., wheelchair accessible, near hospitals, etc.).
Information-Rich Listing Pages: Detailed views of accommodations including photos, maps, and amenities.
Responsive Design: Fully optimized across mobile, tablet, and desktop screens.
Results
Improved Usability: Clear navigation and booking flow minimized drop-offs during the booking process (as observed in testing scenarios).
Role-Specific Experiences: Coordinators found it easier to manage multiple bookings on behalf of clients.
Accessibility Compliant: Designed to meet WCAG guidelines for accessibility.
Enhanced Trust & Clarity: Clean, modern visuals helped build trust among users, especially for a sensitive service like accommodation for NDIS participants.
